Machine destroyed, but cash intact, after truck hits ATM
A TD spokesperson indicated no cash was stolen
One person has been charged after a standalone ATM was smashed overnight on Dougall Avenue, but the bank that owns the machine says deposits made at the ATM are secure.
Officers responded to a report of a hit and run around 10 p.m. at a drive-up ATM that was destroyed at 2605 Dougall Avenue.
After an investigation, officers determined a construction truck was used to hit the ATM several times.
Police say a construction water truck was located nearby with "significant" damage, and officers determined it was allegedly stolen from Lillian Avenue and Allendale Street.

Officers also say they located a suspect attempting to steal a commercial truck before the water truck was driven into the ATM.
A 45-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of mischief over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and attempted theft over $5,000.
A TD spokesperson confirmed in a statement the bank's ATM had been damaged "rendering the device unusable."
"Deposits made via the ATM are secure and no other losses beyond physical damage were incurred," said Megan Sampson, manager of corporate and public affairs for TD.
Sampson said the company is working to have the area cleared and a new ATM is set to be installed in January.
