Windsor unemployment rate surpasses 10% in April
Only Peterborough had a higher unemployment rate

Windsor's unemployment rate hit double-digits in April, rising to 10.7 per cent, up 1.4 percentage points from March, according to new data from Statistics Canada.
The number of unemployed people in the census metropolitan area is now approximately 28,600, up nearly 47 per cent from this time last year, when the number stood at around 17,100.
Nationally, only Peterborough's unemployment rate surpassed Windsor's at 10.8 per cent.
Nationwide, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent, an increase of 0.2 percentage points over March.
The rates are based on a seasonally adjusted three-month moving average.
Employment fell by 1.6 per cent in manufacturing and by 0.9 per cent in wholesale and retail trade.
It increased in public administration, coinciding with the hiring of temporary workers for the federal election.
It also increased in finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing.
Employment declined overall in Ontario by 0.4 per cent in April.
