Record-breaking temperature in the forecast for Windsor on Tuesday afternoon
There is a risk of thunderstorms in the morning and a more substantial risk into the night
Well Windsor, Tuesday will be warm — but it's not all sunshine in the forecast.
Environment Canada forecasts a high of 15 C, which could break the previously-recorded high temperature of 14.2 C from 2000.
"To put that into perspective, normal for this time of year is a daytime high of [3 C] for the area," said Kristina Kretchman, an Environment Canada meteorologist.
"It does look like it could be a record-breaker."
Windsorites were out and about on Monday enjoying the warmer temperatures, getting their cars washed and being active outside during a February warm spell.
Earlier this month, a century-old record was broken when temperatures on Feb. 8 reached 14.3 C — surpassing the 13.9 C record set in 1925. The next day, temperatures inched passed the record of 16.1C with a recorded high of 16.2 C.
But it won't be all sunny skies: Kretchman said, "going hand in hand" with the warm weather is the risk of thunderstorms, including a brief risk Tuesday morning and a more substantial risk Tuesday night into Wednesday.
"With the storms expected over the next couple of days, just eyes on the sky and just remember when it roars, go indoors," she said.
