Women of this Land is a new four-part documentary series that spotlights an Indigenous woman from each province in Atlantic Canada and how they connect to land and language.


Each half-hour episode engages the voices of Indigenous women in revealing and uplifting profile pieces. 

The four documentaries, directed by Stephanie Joline, premiere March 8, International Women's Day, on the Absolutely Canadian series. Watch free on CBC Gem.

"Through this series, we aim to celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of Indigenous women, ensuring their voices are heard and their stories are honoured for generations to come," says Joline.

The series is produced by Joline, Jessica Brown and Jackie Torrens. The director of photography is Tim Mombourquette and the editor is Amy Mielke.

Meet the four women profiled in the series:

Jennie Williams, Newfoundland and Labrador

The first episode delves into the life of Jennie Williams, an Inuk artist and teacher hailing from Labrador, currently residing in St. John's, N.L. The episode captures Jennie's multifaceted approach to maintaining ties with her Inuit roots.  WATCH FREE ON CBC GEM

Chief Darlene Bernard, Prince Edward Island
