Morissette is taking over from actress Molly Ringwald as advice columnist for the paper's Guardian Weekend magazine.
The Ottawa-bred singer-songwriter's first column will be in its Jan. 16 edition.
Morissette has already been writing and recording podcasts about health and wellness on her website.
She tells the Guardian Weekend she has a "combination of intuition and empathy" and often acted as a therapist to family members.
Her comments are in an interview appearing in this Saturday's magazine.
Morissette got her big breakthrough with the 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, which included the hits You Oughta Know and Ironic.
