Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose to join AC/DC for Rock Or Bust tour

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose will join rockers AC/DC on their Rock Or Bust world tour starting in May, replacing Brian Johnson.

Johnson, who became the lead singer for the Australian hard rock band in 1980 after Bon Scott died, stepped aside after being told he was at risk of losing his hearing.

"As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing," the band wrote in a statement posted on their website. 

AC/DC band members thanked Johnson "for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years" and wished him the best "with all his hearing issues and future ventures."

The band, which has several shows to go on the American leg of its tour and will play Europe over the summer, said Axl Rose "kindly offered his support to help us fulfil this commitment."

Rose will start in Lisbon on May 7 and continue to Aarhus, Denmark, June 12.  The 10 postponed U.S. dates will be rescheduled, and will also include Rose.

Rose will continue the Not In This Lifetime world tour with Guns N' Roses at the end of June, a reunion with guitarist Slash and bass player Duff McKagan.

The Appetite for Destruction band headlined southern California's Coachella music festival Saturday and were joined on stage by AC/DC guitarist Angus Young. They performed AC/DC classics Whole Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff.

Rose performed on stage sitting on a throne after suffering a broken foot recently.
