Calgary-filmed drama Fargo lands a whopping 18 Emmy nods
Regina-born Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany snubbed for the third year in a row
The Calgary-shot drama Fargo landed a whopping 18 Emmy nominations on Thursday, and Canadians are sharing in the glory.
Matt Lloyd of Calgary scored a nomination for outstanding cinematography on the FX Canada drama, while Jackie Lind — another Canuck — is up for outstanding casting for a miniseries.
Based on the 1996 film by Joel and Ethan Coen, Fargo is also up for best miniseries, and received acting nods for Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Allison Tolman.
Other Canadian Emmy nominees include Degrassi for outstanding children's program and Toronto-raised Maurice LaMarche for outstanding character voice-over performance for Futurama (he's twice won the category).
Barry Julien of Montreal, meanwhile, is among almost 20 people nominated on The Colbert Report for outstanding writing for a variety series.
One notable Canadian omission Thursday was Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany, who was snubbed in the lead dramatic actress category for a third year.
