Steven and Chris time slot to be filled with new CBC lifestyle series
Producers have approached Steven Sabados to join the forthcoming show, but he has yet to make a decision
CBC-TV has a new lifestyle series in the works, slated to fill the Steven and Chris daytime slot left open following the 2015 death of Chris Hyndman.
The hour-long new series will feature multiple hosts and explore home, food, style and wellness, according to CBC Communications.
The search for hosts for the new series begins this week. Those interested in joining the cast can apply here.
The as-yet-unnamed show, slated to launch in fall 2016, will air weekdays on CBC-TV at 2 p.m. and be recorded in-house at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto.
Jennifer Dettman, executive director of unscripted content for CBC, said advertisers and media can expect more information about the planned show at the upfront presentations in May.
"We're early in the planning process but broadly speaking we want to create a fun and dynamic show, filled with information and inspiration, that ideally will become an afternoon destination for Canadians," said Dettman.
Producers have approached Steven Sabados to join the forthcoming show, but he has yet to decide whether to do so.
The popular lifestyle series Steven and Chris, which launched in 2008, was the couple's final onscreen collaboration. The pair, who met in 1988, developed a devoted fan base over the years with shows such as HGTV's Chic with Steven and Chris, Design Rivals and Designer Guys.
