Toronto rapper sends public props to Diamonds singer on MTV VMA achievement, fuelling dating rumours

Toronto rapper Drake took out a billboard in L.A. to celebrate Rihanna's MTV VMA achievement award.

Drake has sent a very public message to Rihanna on a billboard in Los Angeles.

The Toronto rapper gave props to the Barbadian singer and frequent collaborator for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, where RiRi is receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

"Congratulations to Rihanna from Drake and Everyone at Ovo," the billboard, referring to the rapper's Canadian label, October's Very Own, reads in traditional cursive font.

Rihanna, who is also opening Sunday's awards show, responded by posting a photo on Instagram, with the caption "When he extra!!!", including heart and trophy emojis.

While Toronto is no stranger to Drake using billboards around the city to promote his own albums, this one is fuelling rumours once again about the on-again off-again couple, who have worked together on several songs including Work, Take Care and What's My Name?.

Of course, it's also an indirect pat on the back, since Work is also nominated for multiple VMAs, along with Drake's Hotline Bling.
