Jessica Paré on Mad Men's surprise story lines
Jessica Paré says she didn't know whether the wedding between her character, Megan, and Don Draper would go ahead until she saw the script for this season of Mad Men.
The producers of the show set in a 1960s ad agency are so secretive about story lines, the cast learns not to ask about what's ahead, Paré said in an interview with Jian Ghomeshi, host of CBC's Q cultural affairs show.
The marriage between Megan and Don Draper is changing the power dynamic between them — as her character is far from a push-over in her relationship with her husband, Paré said.
It's also made the Quebec actress into a big star, with the opening of this season of Mad Men featuring Paré in a sultry performance a 1960s French tune at Draper's 40th birthday party. Zou Bisou Bisou immediately sparked attention on social media and has climbed up the iTunes charts.
"It’s really great that it’s getting such a great, such a positive response. It’s rewarding. I’ve been doing this for 14 years," she said.
Pare has previously appeared in Stardom, Lost and Delirious and in the 2009 Montreal-set film The Trotsky.
