Rapper Kanye West met with Donald Trump in New York on Tuesday, appearing briefly with the Republican president-elect in the Trump Tower lobby.

"Friends, just friends," Trump said, calling West "a good man" he's known for a long time. When asked what they discussed, "life" was Trump's response.

West, newly blond, declined to answer reporters' questions, saying, "I just want to take a picture right now."

The pair did not answer questions about whether West will perform at Trump's inauguration ceremonies in January.

The rapper arrived with an entourage, but his wife, reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian West, was not with him.

West was hospitalized for exhaustion last month after a series of rants and the cancellation of the remainder of his U.S. tour.

The 39-year-old rapper made headlines in November when he was booed at his San Jose, Calif., concert for declaring his support for Trump. At the show, he praised the president-elect's "method of communication" as "very futuristic" and spoke about his own plans to run for that office in 2020, saying that he will become "a different kind of president."

Trump was one of the famous characters depicted in a video for West's track Famous, released last year.
