Here's what Leslie Jones wore to the Ghostbusters premiere after her dress tweet
Actress tweeted last month she couldn't find gown for event, designer Christian Siriano offered help
Comedian Leslie Jones showed up to the Ghostbusters' premiere Saturday in a red, off-the-shoulder gown, after a tweet last month saying she couldn't get designer help for a dress.
Jones, who stars in the much-talked-about reboot alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon, appeared at the Los Angeles screening in a Christian Siriano creation. The 30-year-old designer, a Project Runway winner, had reached out to the actress on social media following Jones' post online.
The SNL cast member tweeted June 28: "It's so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie."
The message got a lot of traction, interpreted by many as a call for more diversity in the fashion industry and by some as an entitled and indulgent plea.
With a couple of waving hand emojis, Siriano, whose celebrity clients include Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna and Victoria Beckham, invited Jones to meet for a collaboration.
The result? An open discussion about non-sample size figures in a slow-to-change industry. And a dress that sings louder than the Ghostbusters' theme song: "If you're all alone, pick up the phone."
