Oasis has been forced to cancel an additional three shows because of an attack on guitarist Noel Gallagher at Toronto's Virgin Festival.

Gallagher has three broken and dislodged ribs and has been advised by his doctor not to perform for another week, according to a statement on the British band's website.

Oasis had already cancelled shows in London, Ont., and New York after the Sept. 7 assault.

Now, shows in Cornwall, U.K.; Cologne, Germany; and Paris, dating from Sept. 27 to 30, have been postponed.

The band has promised to reinstate the shows at a later date. A British arena tour to start Oct. 7 will go ahead as scheduled, according to the group's website.

Gallagher and his brother, Liam, were set upon by a man who ran onto the stage. Noel Gallagher might have fractured his ribs falling on a monitor speaker during the attack.

A Pickering, Ont., man has been charged with assault.
