Looking at the cherry blossoms is a rite of passage for those in the Japan's capital, where the trees are plentiful. This year, even a carp got in on the popular past time.

Vancouver

The blossom is also a fixture in and around Vancouver's Stanley Park. Earlier this month, two artists projected colourful lights onto some of the park's trees as part of the city's annual cherry blossom festival.
