A fake kidnapping scam targeting foreign students has made its way to Canada. As part of the scam, victims are told to go into hiding and turn off their cellphones, or their families would suffer. Those students' families are then told their children have been kidnapped and ordered to pay a ransom. Nobody is actually hurt or kidnapped, but for those involved, there's no doubt it feels very real
