Wendy Mesley became CBC Television's first female journalist to cover the Prime Minister when she joined the Parliamentary bureau in 1985. During her career, Wendy reported on seven Prime Ministers including Pierre Trudeau, Brian Mulroney, Jean Chrétien, and Stephen Harper.
Wendy began her journalism career in Quebec, covering the first referendum on sovereignty and René Lévesque's government; she has since broadcast reports from more than a dozen different countries on 4 continents, including most cities in Canada.
Wendy has conducted a wide range of exclusive interviews with newsmakers including Jon Stewart, Malcolm Gladwell, Naomi Klein, Steve Martin, David Axelrod, Trevor Noah, Idris Elba, Margaret Trudeau, Masai Ujiri, Anthony Bourdain, Brian Wilson, Mike Myers, Gloria Steinem, and Christopher Wylie.
Wendy anchored special network coverage of the fall of Gorbachev, the death of Osama bin Laden, and the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 for The National, CBC's flagship nightly news and current affairs program. Wendy also helped create and hosted Undercurrents, the award-winning CBC news & current affairs program, and co-hosted Marketplace, CBC's prime-time investigative consumer show.
