If what people are searching for online is any indication (and it almost always is) you can expect to see a lot of Harley Quinn in Canada on Saturday night.

Data provided to CBC News by Google Canada shows that Quinn, the lovesick DC Comics super villain, has been inspiring more costume queries among Canadians in recent days than anyone or anything else.

Set to appear as the Joker's pigtailed girlfriend/sidekick in 2016's Suicide Squad, Quinn also currently tops Google's "most searched for costumes" list in the U.S.

Comic book and film characters appear to be popular among costume seekers right now.

Of the 18 top searched costumes on Google Canada's list, 11 of them are inspired by movies — a few of which, such as Deadpool and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, have not even been released yet.

Costumes inspired by films released this year, like Mad Max: Fury Road, Minions and Fantastic Four, are also likely to be snapped up by last-minute shoppers over the next few days.

If there are any left in stores, that is.

According to Google, 50 per cent of all Halloween costume and decoration searches in Canada happen within five days of Oct. 31.

So, if you want to dress up like Black Widow or the Joker yourself this year, you should probably act fast (or get to DIYing) because the mad rush is on.
