Babbling baby interrupts Bill Morneau's budget speech
Precisely what the baby was saying is hard to hear, but it sounded like 'no, no, no'
A babbling baby briefly halted Finance Minister Bill Morneau as he was delivering his first federal budget in the House of Commons on Tuesday.
Although precisely what the baby was babbling about is hard to make out, it sounded like "no, no, no" over and over. All this while Morneau spoke about the middle class and restoring "prosperity and optimism" with the budget.

At first, Morneau tried to power through the baby's babbles. But it wasn't long before there was laughter, heckling and some disapproving glares from a few MPs seated behind the finance minister. Morneau cracked a smile and stopped the budget speech to have a sip of water.
It wasn't the first baby noises of the day — shrieks and squeals could also be heard during question period.
Several budget watchers heard the baby's wails and joked about them on Twitter.

First baby babbling during a budget speech delivery?

Even Conservative MP Andrew Scheer commented on the cries, using them to take a jab at the Liberals.
The Saskatchewan MP was the former House of Commons Speaker. In November, he was named the Opposition House leader.

There were some questions about where the baby wails were coming from.
Given the baby was out of camera frame, only its cries could be heard. Several speculated about the identity of the baby.

The culprit may very well be baby Daphnée, the daughter of NDP MP Christine Moore.
The baby was spotted on Moore's lap inside the House of Commons earlier in the day. It popped into frame while NDP Leader Tom Mulcair was asking a question about the budget.
After making a scene inside the House, it appears the baby was then moved into the foyer, just outside of where the speech was taking place.
But that's where many reporters were gathered to cover budget day. So the baby ended up interrupting some live broadcasts too.
