Jason Momoa as Aquaman: Zack Snyder reveals official Batman v Superman image
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to introduce DC's Justice League team
Director Zack Snyder posted the latest teaser for the upcoming superhero film Batman v Superman with a first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
"There is only one true King," tweeted Snyder with the a mostly black-and-white picture of a grim-faced Momoa holding the King of Atlantis's trademark trident.

Momoa is no stranger to the sci-fi and fantasy realm many comic book fans are familiar with. In addition to a long stint on Stargate Atlantis, he played the warlord Khal Drogo in the first season of HBO's Game of Thrones.
This isn't his first time on the high seas, either, as Momoa's first big gig was in the 1999-2001 series Baywatch Hawaii.
The tagline "Unite the Seven" appears superimposed over the portrait, which might be a teaser for more character reveals to come. Reports say that the Batman v Superman movie will introduce the core characters of the Justice League, hence the film's subtitle Dawn of Justice.
While "the seven" might be a general reference to the seven seas (Or, as Game of Thrones fans have joked, The Seven Kingdoms), it might refer to seven principal Justice League members: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg and Martian Manhunter.
Along with Momoa's Aquaman, four other superheroes' actors have been announced: Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

- Wonder Woman movie heralds new era for female superheroes
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to for release on March 25, 2016.
Making his first appearance back in 1941, Aquaman has gone through multiple interpretations of his character and personality. However he's long suffered from the joking (and sometimes not so joking) mockery of comic fans for his cheesier abilities, including being able to talk to fish and ride dolphins like a surfboard.
Online reaction to Snyder's promotional picture of Momoa, then, were mixed. Some swooned over the former Khal Drogo's rippling physique, while others frowned at the monochrome, surly image of Aquaman, hoping for the more fun-loving imagery of cartoons like Super-Friends and Batman: Brave and the Bold.
DC cinematic universe needs a colorist.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman has me far more excited about Batman v. Superman than either Batman or Superman. pic.twitter.com/43qHSlNNfi

What happens when you apply the dark and gritty Dark Knight vision of Batman to Aquaman? This. So wrong. So wrong pic.twitter.com/RXl0LznrtJ

I talked with Jason Momoa quite a lot when we were at cons in NZ, and he was funny and sly. He gave CONAN a sense of humor. He can do it.

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something different about Aquaman. pic.twitter.com/kuQDEOdewD

And of course, some simply took the opportunity to make fish-based puns.
If they make an Aquaman stand alone movie and it doesn't end with 'FIN' I am going to kill everyone ever.

BREAKING: Aquaman's dialogue in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be subtitled for the hard-of-herring.
