KFC announced Tuesday the company had fired a store manager for discriminating against a transgender worker, and social media reaction indicated the move was in good taste.

Georgia Carter, 27, was fired from a Richmond, Va., Kentucky Fried Chicken when the manager found out her driver's licence identified the worker as male.

KFC publicly announced the manager had been fired.

In a statement to Business Insider, KFC said the manager violated the franchisee policy, which is inclusive of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Carter told ABC News that she was elated to get the job.

Shortly after, however, she received a call from the manager who said he had a problem with Carter's driver's licence, Carter told ABC.

Once she told the manager that she was transgender, she claimed he said, "Oh, we can't hire you because we don't know which bathroom you can use."

When KFC heard the allegation, an "immediate and thorough investigation" was conducted, according to Business Insider.

KFC's announcement received a lot of positive reaction on Twitter.
