A protester is accusing Ted Cruz of liking Nickelback

A protester is showing up at Ted Cruz's campaign events in Iowa with a sign that says "Ted Cruz likes Nickelback."

Man also sometimes dons Mountie costume

A protestor in Iowa has been picketing Ted Cruz campaign events with a sign that accuses the Republican senator of liking the Canadian rock band Nickelback.

The man sometimes dresses as a member of the R.C.M.P as well, in a nod to another controversy surrounding the Republican senator's birth in Canada.

The heckler has kept his identity quiet, according to the Washington Post.

But he's not the only one accusing Republicans of Nickelback fandom.

At a recent campaign event in South Carolina, Donald Trump was also heckled by someone with a sign deriding him as a Nickelback fan.

Nickelback is a divisive band to say the least, and has received its fair share of mockery, including a Virginia man who listened to Nickelback continuously for one week for charity. After completing the challenge, he said: "I don't think I could have gone one more minute."

The band seems to be taking the latest slight with good humour.
