Messages of congratulations to Justin Trudeau are coming in from world leaders, and coverage of his election win is trending worldwide. 

Reuters reported Tuesday that the White House congratulated Trudeau on his win. 

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi offered a warm welcome on Twitter. 

India's Narendra Modi extended congratulations and shared memories of their meeting during his visit to Canada. 

Mexican President Enrique Nieto tweeted his message in Spanish: "Congratulations to @JustinTrudeau on his election victory. Canada and Mexico have the opportunity to initiate a new stage in their relationship."

Other welcoming tweets came from Malaysia and The Maldives. 

While many people around the world turned to Canadian media for their election coverage, the news of the Liberals' majority win was trending on foreign websites, as well.
