Twitter announced a new feature Tuesday called Moments, which allows users to access curated content about an event or topic with the tap of an icon.

Whereas Twitter users currently experience the program as a series of tweets in sequential order, Moments will bundle the top content from a trending topic — from the Super Bowl to the #superbloodmoon — and deliver the full picture without requiring constant monitoring, according to Wired.

Moments are presented in a scrollable, sharable display which is updated as more tweets become available and disappears after the story ends, reports TechCrunch

Moments will include videos, commentary, interactions and GIFs, curated by Twitter, as well as by corporate partners, including Bleacher Report, Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Getty Images, Mashable, MLB, NASA, New York Times, Vogue and the Washington Post, according to the company's blog.

It's Twitter's first major change since launching in 2006, and it's seen as a big move toward kickstarting the social network's growth with a wider audience.

The launch follows Monday's announcement that co-founder Jack Dorsey has returned to head the company as CEO.

As of Tuesday, Moments is only available in the United States, on Android, iPhone and desktop devices, but it can be accessed outside of the U.S. if you find a link to a Moment in a tweet or DM, according to the company's blog.

Twitter says it plans to expand the feature beyond the United States soon.
