Boy injured in fall from roller-coaster at Pennsylvania amusement park

A boy has been hospitalized after falling from a wooden roller-coaster at a Pennsylvania amusement park. 

It's the third amusement park accident recently reported in the U.S. Earlier this week, a 10-year-old boy died of a neck injury as he rode a waterslide at a Kansas water park. A six-year-old girl suffered a brain injury and her 10-year -old sister broke her arm after they fell from a ferris wheel in Tennessee. 

A spokesman for Idlewild and SoakZone amusement park near Ligonier, Pa., said the boy was on the ride with his brother Thursday afternoon when he fell. His age wasn't released.

A Westmoreland County emergency dispatcher said the boy was conscious and airlifted to a hospital.

Park spokesman Jeff Croushore said he couldn't say whether the ride malfunctioned.

Hospital spokesman Marc Lukasiak said he couldn't release any information about the boy's condition.

The Rollo Coaster opened in 1938 and takes riders up, down and around a wooded hillside. It doesn't require seatbelts.
