- French police say 12 people, including two police officers, were killed and 20 injured.
- Editor Stéphane Charbonnier and three other prominent cartoonists are among the dead.
- Security forces are still hunting for three suspects: Frenchmen Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi, in their early 30s, as well as 18-year-old Hamyd Mourad, whose nationality wasn't immediately clear.
- Masked gunmen allegedly shouted "Allahu akbar!" or "God is great!" as they attacked, using assault rifles.
- Journalist and economist Bernard Maris believed to be among the dead.
