When Frederick White went to war with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, he left a pregnant girlfriend behind in Newfoundland. His granddaughter, Eleanor Manuel, says he likely expected to be back soon. Frederick White never returned home in life, but now an unknown soldier has come home to be interred at Newfoundland’s National War Memorial.
