Ukrainians in St. John’s had a special visitor this weekend. Yuliya Kovaliv, Ukraine’s ambassador to Canada, joined a ceremony at St. John’s Basilica to mark the liberation of the Ukrainian city of Bucha. Kovaliv said the story of Newfoundland in the First World War echoes the struggle Ukraine faces today.
