Sharp hike on U.S. softwood lumber duties 'make a bad situation a lot worse'
Gavin McGarrigle, the western regional director for Unifor, said that the spike in U.S. duties on softwood lumber exports to the U.S. — going from 14.54 per cent to 34.45 per cent — was an unjustified tariff on B.C.'s forestry industry. He urged federal leaders to support forestry workers and said that this wasn't a time for regionalism.
