NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, speaking from Winnipeg in the final week of the election campaign, questioned if Liberal Leader Mark Carney can be trusted in negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump, following a Radio-Canada report that Trump did bring up making Canada the 51st U.S. state during a March 28 call. Carney previously said Trump ‘respected Canada’s sovereignty’ during the conversation.
