Dr. Gary Chaimowitz, a psychiatry professor at McMaster University, tells BC Today host Michelle Eliot there are laws that allow people to be detained against their will if they pose a risk or cannot look after themselves. However, he says that should include commitments to get them well and provide them with the resources to allow them to regain their place in society.
