2.5 years after Fiona, P.E.I. still hasn't changed law to allow more tree-trimming near power lines
Post-tropical storm Fiona devastated P.E.I.'s power grid in 2022, knocking down tens of thousands of trees. A new report says efforts by Maritime Electric to prevent a recurrence are being hampered because the province hasn't made the change required to give the company more freedom over what trees it can cut near power poles.
