Iran says it’s ready to talk restoring ties with Canada, but it’s complicated
Canada severed its diplomatic relationship with Iran in 2012, citing Iran's perceived nuclear ambitions, human rights abuses and more. And while many Iranians have long hoped the countries would restore ties, the downing of Flight PS752 in January 2020 dimmed hopes of a rapprochement. CBC’s senior international correspondent Margaret Evans recently had rare access to Tehran and spoke with an Iranian official who said it might be time for the countries to talk.
