Canada severed its diplomatic relationship with Iran in 2012, citing Iran's perceived nuclear ambitions, human rights abuses and more. And while many Iranians have long hoped the countries would restore ties, the downing of Flight PS752 in January 2020 dimmed hopes of a rapprochement.
