Human-caused wildfires often have greatest impact on communities, says researcher
Lori Daniels, the Koerner chair in wildfire coexistence at the University of British Columbia, says human-ignited wildfires happen around the "wildland-urban interface" — forest recreational areas that have a close proximity to neighbourhoods. She tells BC Today host Michelle Eliot this makes communities more vulnerable, and stresses the onus on individuals to take responsibility while recreating in the forest.
