Ticks are showing up in greater numbers in B.C., and earlier in the season. Not all ticks are created equal but most carry some kind of pathogen. The black-legged tick is known for spreading a bacteria that causes Lyme disease in humans. Reported Lyme cases have gone up nationwide by more than 5,000 since 2009.
