Surrey mayor joins premier's call for Lawrence Bishnoi gang to be designated as terrorists
Surrey mayor Brenda Locke says she and Premier David Eby are calling on the federal government to deem the Lawrence Bishnoi gang based in India — and other groups alleged to have taken part in extortion threats in Canada — a terrorist organization, saying the designation would give law enforcement tools to seize assets and arrest. Speaking to BC Today host Michelle Eliot, Locke says some citizens are fearful of reporting to police and cites concerns of vigilantism in the community.
