A federal byelection will be held in the Alberta riding of Battle River-Crowfoot on Aug. 18, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Monday. Lori Williams, a political analyst and professor at Mount Royal University, said 'byelections can be a different sort of beast,' and the results rely heavily on who shows up to vote. It's a chance for Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to regain a seat in the House of Commons.
