New data obtained by CBC News shows that since 2019, Correctional Service Canada has failed to curb the rate of ‘non-natural’ deaths of inmates, information the agency never intended to make public. Families, advocates and former inmates are questioning why more isn’t done to prevent the in-custody deaths.
