The National Arts Centre in Ottawa will not host performances by Shen Yun in 2026. Internal emails released to CBC News show the centre worried about breaches of contract and the potential for human rights complaints over Shen Yun’s alleged mistreatment of people with disabilities. Shen Yun is affiliated with Falun Gong, a spiritual movement banned in China and at odds with that country’s government.
