With numerous countries facing an Aug. 1 trade agreement deadline, officials in the Trump administration say China could get an extension while negotiations continue. Meanwhile, Canadian officials are hoping for a similar extension to avoid sweeping 35 per cent tariffs on non-CUSMA products.
