Brent Ward, co-director of the Centre for Natural Hazards Research, says an international network is in place to determine the risk of a tsunami, sometimes within minutes of an earthquake occurring. On Tuesday, B.C. issued multiple tsunami advisories following a large earthquake in the Pacific basin near Russia.
