The Perseid meteor shower could soon light up the summer night sky. The shower, considered one of the best of the year, will peak on the night of Aug. 12 and into the wee hours. Under ideal conditions — dark, cloud-free, smoke-free, clear skies — the shower could produce roughly 100 meteors per hour.
