Shortly before ten o'clock, an armed man shot and killed a Canadian Forces soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial. The soldier was a reservist with Hamilton's Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Corporal Nathan Cirillo. The gunman then made his way into the Centre Block building on Parliament Hill where dozens of shots were fired. As it Happens coverage includes interviews with a witness who was at the War Memorial; an MP who was on the Hill, steps from the shooter; and reporter Peter Henderson who was very close by when the shooting began.
