Canadians tame 'the beast' with acts of kindness

From the heroism of fire fighters, to the people who opened their homes, we focus on the heroes that arose from the tragedy of Fort McMurray.

The fire in Fort McMurray has brought out the best of Canada. As the flames continue to burn, leaving citizens unable to return to their homes, random acts of kindness are breaking out all across the country.

Canadians are fighting fire with generosity. Including in the national effort is the gift of 200 000 thousand cans of water from Labatt's brewery.

"Instead of bottling beer Labatt's decided they would bottle American beer," Anand Rajaram quipped. The contents of the cans were actually water but we know what he means.

Suncore Pilot Keith Mann took it upon himself to go against company policy to allow 40 pets to fly to Edmonton uncaged with their owners.

The flames also forced one fiancee to flee, leaving her wedding dress. With just days remaining before her wedding the story hit social media and the bride-to-be received a brand new dress from the Lea-Ann Belter Bridal shop in Toronto. The cost? Absoltuely free. "The store owner just wanted to do something good for Fort Mac," panellist Barbara Kay explains.
