The 1991: 25 years later and nothing has changed
Students at Toronto's Georges Vanier Secondary School got a big surprise when they unsealed a time capsule buried in 1991. No, it wasn't just that the early 90s were 25 years ago.
On a bristol board poster, amongst remarks written by last generation's high school students was a comment that caught everyone's attention. "Donald Trump are you still alive!" the unknown student wrote.
That comment prompted Because News to dig through the archives and pull out an entirely fake episode from 1991.
This was the year the very first website was launched prompting panellist Leslie Seiler, pretending like she was in 1991, to say. "It sounds like my dad's fax machine. We have one in the kitchen now."
I would never invest in this- Barbara Kay pretending to dislike the sounds from early modems
But even more surprising than the Information Superhighway was how George Bush brought peace to the Middle East, declaring the end of the Gulf War after only 43 days of combat. "It's cool we don't have to worry about it anymore," Seiler said, referring to the centuries old conflict in the Middle East.
