Day 6

Day 6 encore: A forgotten chapter in Canadian music history

In this Day 6 documentary, we hear some of the incredible music from Light in the Attic Records' "Native North America, Volume 1" and speak with music compiler Kevin Howes, musician Willie Thrasher and poet Duke Redbird.

Light in the Attic Records prides itself on shining a light on artists with legacies that have been long hidden away. In one of their more recent projects, Light in the Attic's music compiler Kevin Howes tracked down a hidden piece of Canada's own music history. Deep in the clutter of flea markets and old record shops, Howes found Aboriginal folk, rock and country records. "Native North America, Volume 1" is a compilation of some of that music recorded for the CBC and for small labels from the 1960's to the 1980's.

This Day 6 documentary brings you some of the incredible music from the album, along with commentary from Howes, musician Willie Thrasher and poet Duke Redbird.
