How do you grieve the death of a stranger?
David Elines didn't know Elijah Marsh before the boy's tragic death. But David says he'll never forget him.
Grieving the death of a loved one takes an incredible emotional toll. To cope with loss, friends and family get together to offer each other support and remember the best moments spent with the deceased.
But what if the person you are mourning was a stranger?
CBC's Out in the Open host Piya Chattopadhyay talked to David Elines, who discovered the body of 3-year-old Elijah Marsh in February 2015.
David had no connection to the Marsh family aside from this tragic discovery, but the image of the little boy he found on a cold winter day still haunts him.
"I don't think you'll ever get 100 per cent over it. I think you'll always sort of remember the day and what happened there."
