Joan (who works at the CBC) was in a non-monogamous relationship. When it began, rules were laid out about having relationships with other people.

"We were both coming into the relationship with people on the side that were long standing arrangements that we both really enjoyed, so we decided the deal was going to be 'don't ask, don't tell'."

All of a sudden, the other person decided "tell"... and that changed everything.

Joan tells Piya how cheating can happen in an open relationship, and why the pain of being cheated on in one is different than in monogamous relationships.
