Roger Moore, the longest-running James Bond, dead at 89
Roger Moore, the actor best known for his role in several James Bond spy movies, has passed away at the age of 89.
Moore's family confirmed in a statement that the actor passed away after a battle with cancer.
"It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer," they wrote. "The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone."
Moore appeared in seven James Bond films beginning with 1973's Live and Let Die and played the famous spy for 12 years in the films, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985).
