Ramin Djawadi says a great television theme song should make you drop everything you're doing and run to the TV. If that's the case, then he has succeeded more than once.

Djawadi is the composer behind Game of Thrones and Westworld's dramatic scores. And it's no surprise that he is scoring big with two of TV's biggest shows now as he first learned all the tricks of the trade from a true master: Hans Zimmer.

So what drove Djawadi down this musical path in the first place? "With instrumental music, there are no words and that leaves more up to the audience to interpret," he explains. "There is such a power to putting music up to picture and being able to manipulate or enhance that emotion."

Djawadi joins guest host Laurie Brown on today's show to discuss his rise up the composing ranks, how he goes about creating music for Game of Thrones and Westworld, and which Game of Thrones scene was most difficult for him to score.

Djawadi will be heading out on tour as part of the Game of Thrones: Live Concert Experience. For the full list of tour dates, head over to their website.
