It's no secret that the last few years have been a boon for Canadian music around the world. Arcade Fire, Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Alessia Cara — they've all helped solidify a new identity of what Canadian music is. But, for a very long time, Canada was defined in the world by a handful of mega-stars, ones that you only had to reference with one name: Celine, Neil, Rush and, of course, Shania.

Shania Twain isn't just a Canadian mega-star, she's one of the biggest performers in the world, and the best-selling female artist in country music history. But, if you can believe it, it's been 15 years since we've had a new record from her. That changes today.

Twain's fifth album, Now, is out today. But Twain isn't the only female artist making history this week. Cardi B, a rapper from the Bronx, became the first female rapper to hit number 1 on the Billboard since Lauryn Hill in 1998.

To take a closer look at these two history-making musicians, guest host Ali Hassan will talk to q This's Raina Douris and Odario Williams about Shania Twain and Cardi B.
